General tasks
Install, repair, maintain structured cabling systems in accordance with specifications and standards.

Network infrastructure installation:
•Interpret design drawings and other project documents;
•Fixing of trunking and cable trays
•Install terminal boxes, network equipment and network cabinets;
•Install (Laying of cable), terminate and test copper and fibre optic network cables
•Prepare daily, weekly and end of project reports complete with installation quantities, test results etc

Additional tasks
•Install underground cable in trenches or in duct

General Responsibilities
•Tests and trouble shoots problems with structured cabling systems - Analyze test results to assess transmission characteristics and locate faults or malfunctions to be rectified
•Perform related duties as required
•Communicate with Coordinator at Tenovar Limited
•Report and document to Coordinator - job duties, time, tasks, materials used on the various jobs, test results etc
Skills
•Must possess proven problem solving and critical thinking skills
•Language skills - ability to effectively read, write and speak fluently in English will be considered an asset
•Must be able to work at heights, off a ladder and in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds
•Able to use industry tools such as splicer, cleaver, tester and other precision tools
•Basic construction industry skill including ability to use power tools such as for drilling holes, trenching in walls etc
•Ability to use a cherry picker

General Requirements for all Network Technicians
The technicians must have the necessary competences to work with minimum supervision in a team environment and able to handle multiple issues simultaneously with a positive attitude.

•A minimum of 3 year experience in the field
•Be in possession of at least a technical qualification in telecommunications at EQF/ISCED L3 by an accredited school or in possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma
•Language skills - ability to effectively read, write and speak fluently in English is considered an important asset
•Have good organisational skills
•Strong understanding of customer support methods
•Be in possession of a valid driving license
